Previous Drop-Ins

  • Imaan Hadchiti

    Imaan Hadchiti

Imaan Hadchiti has been doing stand-up since he was 15. Born in Mylor, South Australia, to Lebanese parents and now based in Sydney, he's one of the funniest acts working in Australian comedy right now. He and his sister are the only known cases of Rima Syndrome, a rare genetic condition that puts him at around 107cm tall and earns him a Guinness World Record as the world's shortest full-time stand-up comedian. Credits include playing a Mayan God in Marvel's Thor: Love and Thunder and turning up in Apple TV+'s Time Bandits. The CV is, to put it mildly, not boring. Filthy when he wants to be, he'll then blindside you with something genuinely moving. Years in Berlin and on the international circuit gave him an outsider-insider angle that runs through everything, and a sharpness that's hard to fake. Triple J's Class Clowns in 2005 was just the start — sell-out runs at Edinburgh Fringe, Adelaide Fringe, Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Glastonbury, and Sydney Comedy Festival followed, along with TV on SBS, ABC's You Can't Ask That, and, for good measure, Italian television. When he's in town, just go.

  • James McCann

    James McCann

James McCann was born in Adelaide in 1991, and he's been making up for lost time ever since. Stand-up comedian, writer, poet — the man contains multitudes. Thirteen consecutive Adelaide Fringe Festival runs built his reputation, with show titles like "Wolf Creek: The Musical", "The Sound of Nazis", and "McCann-dle in the Wind" doing most of the explaining so he doesn't have to. Three awards at the 2018 Adelaide Comedy Awards followed, including Comedian of the Year and Best Emerging Comedy, along with TV writing credits on Corey White's Roadmap to Paradise. He's also published three books of poetry and written essays for The Spectator, The Australian, and Quadrant. McCann's stand-up pulls from a creative brain that also writes music and poetry, which gives it a texture you don't often find in this game. Reviews have called him "utterly hilarious" with "distinctly enjoyable" originality — and that tracks. After opening for Mark Normand on the 2023 Fanny Guy tour, McCann relocated to Austin, Texas in 2024 and became a regular at the Comedy Mothership, opening for Shane Gillis. His 2024 Kill Tony appearances earned him Set of the Year in 2025, and YouTube specials "HEY AMERICA" and "BLACK ISRAELITE" have each cracked a million views. American audiences are catching on fast.

  • Steph Broadbridge

    Steph Broadbridge

Steph Broadbridge is a Sydney comedian who somehow turned a jazz vocals degree from ANU into a career making strangers laugh. That's not a pivot — that's a magic trick. She brings a perspective to stand-up that feels genuinely unlike anyone else working Sydney stages right now. Pick up a ukulele, tell raw personal stories, be relentlessly funny — Steph does all three, sometimes in the same set. Her shows go places other comedians won't. "Hot Chick/Tired Mum" at the Factory Theatre in 2021 turned heads, and "Breaking: The Musical" proved she can build an entire theatrical world from scratch using nothing but comedic instinct and sheer nerve. Fans have described her style as pitch-black humour wrapped in a warm hug, which is about as accurate as it gets — she tackles trauma, neurodiversity, and the beautiful chaos of everyday life without flinching, then makes you laugh at all of it. The facts are hard to argue with: 2019 RAW Comedy National Grand Finalist, over 300 gigs in a single year, and headline spots at Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Sydney Fringe, Splendour in the Grass, and Sydney Comedy Festival 2025. A genuine fixture of the local scene, she's a familiar face at Kookaburra's Comedy and the stages that make Sydney's comedy circuit worth caring about.

  • Dan Rath

    Dan Rath

Dan Rath is a comedian who has, somehow, snuck up on everyone and become one of the most exciting names in Australian stand-up. Critics have called his style "chaotic, weird, and utterly brilliant" (The Scoop) and a blend of "genius and insanity" (The Scotsman) — and those aren't exaggerations. He tours globally via United Talent Agency, played Edinburgh Fringe 2025, and appeared on Australian TV on Guy Mont Spelling Bee. He brings stories about living in a backpackers on a bunk bed, a genuinely unhinged saga about parking ticket debt, and a car crushed by the government. What sets Dan apart is how his neurodivergent, completely offbeat brain works on stage — he will make prime numbers the funniest thing you hear all year. His 2024 special "I'm Not Doing Well Folks," released by 800 Pound Gorilla, has cracked 100,000 views on YouTube, which tracks, because the chaos translates just as well on screen as it does live. Co-hosting the podcast "Neurotic News" with Damien Power, he brings the same energy: wonderfully, reliably unhinged. The accolades reflect it — Best Newcomer at MICF 2019, the Piece of Wood Award at MICF 2023, Director's Choice at MICF 2025, and Best of the Fest at Sydney Comedy Festival 2025. His 2025 show "Tropical Depression" — rapid-fire jokes on drugs, Ubers, and everything in between — has drawn strong praise from both Chortle and The Scotsman.
