Description

Wetlands Detectives – An Educational Experience

Discover the wondrous webs of wetland life through play, stories, and bushland exploration.

The Wetlands Centre is delighted to invite homeschooled children and their families to participate in our extended education program. Wetlands Detectives: An Educational Experience unfolds over five sessions exploring a different topic each time.

Children will have the opportunity to engage with the natural area of the Bibra Lake wetlands by exploring the bushlands and wetlands to learn about the importance of these areas and the variety of native plants and animals it supports. Children will examine exciting material evidence of animal life, deeply connect with their senses in nature, and learn how to respect and be safe in the bushland.

Hands on activities provide children with firsthand experiences in scientific methods and observations while also encouraging creativity. Students will learn about reptiles, plants, amphibians and what makes a healthy habitat. Hands on activities will include native seed planting, looking at macroinvertebrates in compost and creating artwork inspired by nature.

This program is perfect for homeschooling families seeking thoughtful, joyful and localised learning about nature.

*This is the same program, as what is being run on Fridays, all the same topics will be covered.
