Dr Allen Williams Adaptive Grazing Workshop at YABTREE WEST - GUNDAGAI

Ask anyone who went to Wilmot Field Day 2026 and they’ll tell you a clear stand‑out was international grazing guru, Dr Allen Williams. Producers wanted more time with him, so we’re doing something we’ve never done in the event’s history: we’re taking WFD to you, offering producers the chance to work directly with Allen in real paddock conditions on host farms closer to home. 

These one‑day workshops are designed for beef, sheep and mixed‑livestock producers who want clearer grazing decisions, stronger feedbase resilience, and more confidence managing variable seasons. The farm becomes the classroom, helping participants read soil, plants, water flow, groundcover and livestock behaviour, and turn those observations into day‑to‑day grazing decisions. 

Adaptive grazing isn’t a recipe or fixed rotation. It’s a practical way to match livestock demand with available pasture, protect country through dry times, improve water use, and support healthier soils, pastures and landscapes. Dr Williams will lead producers through real paddock scenarios, supported by Atlas Grazing advisers who connect grazing decisions with measurable soil, pasture, carbon and business outcomes. 

The Regional Workshop Series gives producers the same calibre of learning they valued at WFD26 - delivered in their region, on landscapes like theirs.

Speaker and Host profiles

Dr Allen Williams, Libertas Land | Grazing and Livestock management
Dr Allen Williams is an internationally recognised regenerative agriculture educator and consultant with deep experience in livestock production, adaptive grazing and systems-based agriculture. Through Libertas Land, he works with producers to improve profitability, soil health, ecosystem function and resilience through practical regenerative management. Allen will lead the workshop series with a focus on grazing decision-making, livestock performance, pasture recovery and applying regenerative principles in real paddock conditions.

Rafe Ritchie, Atlas Grazing & Carbon | Pasture, grazing and soil carbon advisory
Rafe Richie is a Senior Pasture and Grazing Consultant with Atlas Grazing and a respected advisor in grazing land management and agricultural project development. Drawing on practical experience with on-farm assessments and soil carbon project due diligence, Rafe helps producers understand what makes a project viable, where risks sit, and why accurate field-based assessment matters before entering a carbon project. Rafe will support the workshop series by bringing practical insights into grazing management, soil carbon opportunity, farm assessment and decision-making that de-risks projects for producers.

Rebecca Gorman will host the Yabtree West workshop at Mundarlo (Gundagai). A former journalist, Rebecca returned to the land to do something practical about climate change and reconnect her family with their farming heritage. Through Holistic Management, peer learning and ecological monitoring, she has helped guide Yabtree West’s transition toward more considered grazing, landscape function and long-term ecological improvement.

Yabtree West is a 2,263 ha cattle trading and breeding enterprise at Mundarlo, NSW, managed by the owner with an on-farm manager. The property has been used to trial whole-of-farm planning, time-controlled rotational grazing, Natural Sequence Farming, water contours and Land to Market Ecological Outcomes Verification monitoring.  Over time Yabtree West has increased vegetation cover, efforts to halt erosion and improved resilience through the 2018 drought, making the property a strong practical setting for producer discussion on grazing decisions, water flow, groundcover and landscape recovery.
