Whakamanawa is the moment for all those working in social service mahi and across the social sector to hui together, be inspired, share learning for the work ahead and get up-to-date with everything happening in our social sector. Whakamanawa is the first National Social Services Conference in two years, and we are excited to be back hosting this important hui virtually in 2022!  

Aotearoa's community based social services and our wider social sector are continuing to play an essential role getting families and whānau through the pandemic. It is time for us to gather together and build on our strengths from this unprecedented time, to inspire each other and to find rejuvenation and motivation through engaging with new whakaaro and experiences. 

By attending Whakamanawa 2022 you will get to engage with social services and social sector kaimahi from all corners of the motu, while remaining safe in your own location. You will get to learn about the latest developments in government policy, social service practice, workforce development and a host of other topics. You will be inspired by the incredible keynote kaikōrero we have in store for you.  As your host, SSPA is putting together an exciting programme - so grab your tickets now, and encourage your friends and colleagues to get theirs, too! 

You will leave the conference informed, reconnected and ready to take ideas for action back to your organisation. You will be revitalised to take up the challenges and opportunities of working in te ao huri huri together with Aotearoa's children, rangatahi, families and whānau.

Covid-19 information 

This conference will be an online event, running Monday 04-Wednesday 06 April 2022, across the morning blocks each day, 9:15am-12:30pm. 

Depending on the COVID-19 situation in April, SSPA may support regional whakawhanaungatanga side-hui to take place during the afternoon of Tuesday 05 April. Further details will follow in due course for all ticket-holders, and there will be no additional cost to attend a regional side-hui. Attendance at regional side-hui will be optional. 

Ticketing information 

Registration cancellation and refund policy: Cancellations must be notified in writing by email to office@sspa.org.nz. 

Cancellations received on or before 04 March 2022 will be charged an administration fee of $100. 

No refund will be given for registration cancellations received after 04 March 2022 (including “no shows” at the conference). 

Registrations can be transferred to another delegate at any time by contacting office@sspa.org.nz. 
There is no booking fee but if paying by credit card a charge will apply. 

You can choose to pay by invoice. 

If you have already purchased your tickets for the earlier advertised dates: 

  • Your registration will automatically be held and forwarded to the new event date.  
  • If the new conference dates don't work for you, you are more than welcome to send someone else in your place or request a refund.   
  • If you prefer a refund, please let us know and we'll process this. You can email Rachel at office@sspa.org.nz.
