Event description

Where are Australia’s unique advantages best suited to powering a Clean Recovery?

CALLING ALL CLEAN TECH STARTUPS, CORPORATE COLLEAGUES AND RESEARCH TEAMS

The $20B Sun Cable project aims to power Singapore with solar power from Australia:

Singapore doesn’t have much land, but has expensive energy and ambitious climate targets. Australia has a lot of land – 2,000 times as much on a per capita basis – and fantastic resources.

By relying on local power solutions Australia can be more insulated against disruptions to global oil supplies and the vulnerability of our 90 day stockpile.

By developing competitive markets for export of electricity rather than fuel materials, Australia can ensure relevance to a broader range of trading partners.

  • What opportunities does Australia have to use local resources to produce batteries, solar panels and energy for both domestic and export markets?
  • Where is our greatest scientific leadership in terms of graphene, algae, power distribution, lithium mining, battery manufacturing, microgrids, panel production and more.
  • What are the opportunities for corporate projects?
  • What are the opportunities for new startups?
  • What are the opportunities for commercialisation?
  • Australia’s agriculture is close to our energy in terms of CO2 equivalents. What are the best economic opportunities to address this?

Facilitators:

Venture Cafe will be building on its many community connections to lead a series through the year on the Clean Recovery.
