This session will explore the 4 Pools of Capital that may support Open Woodland Restoration:

• Public Good

• Environmental Markets

• Supply Chains

• Local Economy

We will look at opportunities ranging from carbon and nature repair markets to BCT incentives, supply chain opportunities and local economic drivers.

But value is not just about who may buy the outcome. It is also about the cost of establishment, the finance required, the timing of returns, and the project characteristics that influence whether a project succeeds.

Using a financial modelling tool, we will work through the variables that shape project feasibility, including costs, yields, price forecasts, scale and return.

In this session, participants will jointly explore:

• the 4 Pools of Capital and who Open Woodland Restoration may be valuable to

• the characteristics of successful Open Woodland Restoration projects

• how costs, yields, scale and price affect returns

• on-farm biodiversity opportunities, including Nature Repair Market, BCT and emerging market pathways

• how landscape coordination, proximity and connectivity can create benefits that individual farms may not achieve on their own

• whether better support tools, including HECS-style financing, are needed to help farmers get started

Session 1 – What Do We Have? focused on understanding farm-level and landscape-level opportunity through Farm Snapshots.

Session 2 – What Is It Worth? focuses on the financial dimensions of Open Woodland Restoration, including the farm-level and collective value proposition.

Session 3 – How Do We Tell Our Story? will explore how to communicate and strengthen the value of Open Woodland Restoration at scale.
