What is the future assembling? Entities, Evolution, Artificial Intelligence
Description
Welcoming thinkers Layman Pascal and Timothy Jackson in dialogue at the Voicecraft Network, we ask what may be taking shape beyond the horizon of ordinary perception? What could be be shaping us, in order that we shape it? What possible sense is there to such a question?
Further, in a time of technological and cultural transformation, how is artificial intelligence shaping the evolutionary landscape? Are there patterns to this shaping that can shed light on the systems we participate in, and how we collectively hold the meanings of value, intelligence, and production?
Finally, to what degree can the framing of 'entity', whether as encounter with something perceived as an intelligent other, or considered more diffusely in terms of archetype, egregore, or collective intelligence, help to illuminate patterns of collective behaviour today?
This event takes place online, at the Voicecraft Network's digital hub for conversation. On booking your tickets, you will receive a link to join an online studio in the role of a listener, where you will standby in a cyberdelic amphitheatre before bearing witness to a good bit of fun and deep exploration. We will also be experimenting with a set of new structural constraints to enable the exploration on the evening.
Ethos
This event is a Voicecraft Open event. It is online, and follows a gift economy ethos. You are genuinely welcome to attend at no cost. If you are able to pay it forward and cover someone else, you will be supporting Voicecraft to connect more of culture in altered states of conversation.
About the participants
Layman Pascal was incarnated on a remote island in the Pacific Northwest. He used to be a meditation teacher, yoga instructor & public speaker—but he’s feeling much better now. He is a writer on themes of cultural philosophy, shamanism and organic spiritual development.
Dr. Timothy N. W. Jackson is a chemical ecologist and pharmacologist, and co-head of the Australian Venom Research Unit. His philosophical engagement with the nature of function and evolutionary change has led him to challenge dominant scientific paradigms, advocating for alternative models that better capture the dynamic, processual character of nature.
They will be dialoguing with Tim Adalin and members of the Voicecraft Network including Tom Lyons.
Here are recent episodes on the Altered States Of Conversation and the Voicecraft Network channel featuring the speakers involved in this event.
