Join us for this important Professional Learning opportunity that explores how we can best support our Muslim students learning and wellbeing during a time of increasing Islamophobia. Together with the staff from the Islamophobia Register of Australia we will explore:
The data around Islamophobia in Australian communities
The impact of Islamophobia on student learning and wellbeing
Services that support Muslim students and their families in the event of an incident including culturally responsive support and reporting options
Ways to enhance a sense of safety and belonging in our classrooms
This workshops aligns to the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers in the following standards:
4.4 Ensure students’ wellbeing and safety within school by implementing school and/ or system, curriculum and legislative requirements.
1:3 Design and implement teaching strategies that are responsive to the learning strengths and needs of students from diverse linguistic, cultural, religious and socioeconomic backgrounds.
