Description

We hope you can join us for our next practical and informal session - What We Leave Behind - Estate Planning, Wealth & the Conversations Advisers Should Be Having, designed specifically for financial advisers, estate planning lawyers, accountants and wealth professionals.

Join Sydney Community Foundation for a conversation with estate planning lawyer and philanthropy adviser Rachael Rofe.

The rules around estate planning are changing, but some of the most important conversations advisers can have with clients go well beyond tax and documents.

Rachael will unpack the 2026 Budget changes affecting testamentary trusts, what they mean for existing estate plans, and why these structures may now play an even more important role in tax-effective wealth transfer and asset protection.

The conversation will also look beyond the technical side of estate planning: how can advisers help clients think about what they want their wealth to achieve — for their family, future generations and, where relevant, through philanthropy and charitable giving?

Clients are increasingly thinking about more than simply transferring assets. They want to preserve family unity, protect the wealth they have built, pass on the values that shaped it and ensure nothing is left on the table — whether that’s tax value, asset protection or family values.

This conversational session will explore how advisers can bring these considerations together as part of more thoughtful and effective estate and wealth planning. There will be plenty of time for questions and discussion, and you’re very welcome to share this invite with any of your colleagues who may find the conversation useful.

Rachel Rofe Bio:
Rachael Rofe is an estate planning lawyer and philanthropy adviser who works with individuals, families and their advisers on the transfer of wealth, values and legacy.

She is the founder of Rofe & Counsel, where her practice focuses on estate and succession planning, and giving across the full spectrum of life and death. Her work brings together the technical, tax and structuring aspects of wealth transfer with the more personal questions of family, legacy and giving.

Before returning to private legal practice, Rachael spent more than a decade working at the intersection of wealth and philanthropy, including in senior leadership roles within the philanthropic sector. More recently, she has been closely involved in the public policy debate around the taxation of testamentary trusts, working with Treasury, parliamentarians and the media on the implications of the proposed reforms.

We hope to see you online on 2 September.
