Travel instructions

Getting there: Villa Rustica sits above Port Chalmers on Heywards Point Rd, about 25–30 minutes from central Dunedin by car. From Dunedin / Port Chalmers: Follow State Highway 88 out to Port Chalmers — about fifteen minutes, past Forsyth Barr Stadium and through Ravensbourne, following the causeway along the harbour. From Port Chalmers, take Borlasses Road, turn right onto Blueskin Road, and continue climbing until the road branches — carry straight on from there onto Heywards Point Rd. From Waitati / the north: Follow Shortcut Road to Blueskin Road, then turn left onto Heywards Point Rd. Either way, the final stretch is narrow and winding, with some tight turns, so please allow a little extra time and take it slowly, particularly if you haven't driven it before. There's a gate at the entrance, which will be open — you're welcome to drive straight through. If you'd prefer, there's also space to park just outside on the grass verge.
