Tue, 9 Feb, 5:30pm - Tue, 2 Nov, 8:30pm 2027 AEST

Description

Harking back to the days of the speakeasy bars, this gem of a venue is the setting for four very special, intimate Ensemble Q Australia concerts in 2027.

Enter the room through a Narnia-inspired wardrobe and dissolve yourself in an evening of good company and incredible music played just for you by some of the finest musicians in Australia. Bring friends or make new ones, everyone is welcome.

Our Whiskey Bar Series has become one of Ensemble Q's fastest selling events, with many concerts selling out before everyone has had the opportunity to book.

YOU ASKED. WE LISTENED.

In 2027 we're keeping everything you love about the series - just 40 guests, exceptional chamber music, and the intimacy of the Whiskey Bar - but adding a second performance each evening.

Choose 5.30pm or 7.30pm, enjoy dinner after or before the performance.

The Goldberg Variations

Adam Chalabi, Benjamin Roskams and Trish Dean join for this masterpiece by Bach, arranged for string trio by Sitkovetsky. The last time we performed this we were told it was a "life-changing moment" by not just one audience member. Now is your moment.

FAQs

  • Is there disability access?

With huge apologies, no - this venue has a staircase to get up to the Whiskey Bar and a few stairs at the front entrance. If you are ok with stairs, there is a handrail and the toilets are on the same level.

  • What about refunds?

With only 40 seats and high competition for tickets, we trialed the waitlist system but we found it to be largely unsuccessful due to tight turnaround and the time it takes to respond to a text or email.

We know a large group of tertiary music students who would give anything to be able to attend one of these concerts, so we would love to donate any unused tickets to them.

Please let us know if you can't attend, that way at least your sadness over missing a concert will be replaced by the pleasure of knowing you've passed the privilege forward to a very special young person.

  • How long do the concerts go for?

Each concert runs for approximately one hour. Please allow half an hour at either end to arrive, park, purchase your wine, see the concert, have a chat and leave.

  • Can we drink during the concert?

Absolutely! We advise arriving half an hour before the concert starts, purchasing your wine at the downstairs entry bar and then come upstairs to find a comfortable seat where you can enjoy sipping your wine and chatting with other audience members.

  • Is the bar open during the performance?

Once you're in your seat, for the sake of other patrons and the performers' concentration level we do prefer you to stay there and enjoy the concert. You are more than welcome to purchase a bottle at the bar and bring it to your seat to enjoy throughout the performance. Choose a seat near a table for comfortable use of the bottle.

  • Can I swap my tickets between sessions?

You can make swaps between friends, however if in the likely event the sessions are sold out, it is unlikely that you will be able to change your session time. Email us on info@ensembleqaustralia.com up until the day prior to the concert and we will see if there are any changes possible.

  • I can't find my ticket, what do I do?

All tickets form a door list that is checked at entry, so we'll still know you're coming and will let you in.
