KEY DETAILS
We will be playing in the A minor pentatonic scale which is perfect for all hand sizes and harmonises with the C major scale which a lot of music is in ! so you will enjoy playing along with all your favourite songs :)Â
Each participant will receive their own flute to play !! at each session and have the opportunity to purchase afterwards.Â
NO experience needed anyone welcome !
PROGRAM DETAILS
Module 1: Introduction to the Native American FluteÂ
• Which flute is for me ? Learn about the anatomy of the flute, materials used, why you might be called to certain flutesÂ
• Basic Playing Techniques: Focus on producing clear tones, proper finger placement, and breath control.Â
• Introduction to Scales: Explore the pentatonic scale, the foundation of many Native American flute melodies.
Module 2: Developing Musical SkillsÂ
1. Rhythm and Timing: Practice basic rhythms and understand their application in flute playing.Â
2. Simple Melodies: Learn to play easy tunes using the pentatonic scale.Â
3. Improvisation Basics: Introduction to improvisational techniques, encouraging personal expression.
Module 3: Deepening Musical UnderstandingÂ
1. Advanced Techniques: Explore vibrato, dynamic control, and ornamentation to enhance musicality.Â
2. Exploring Different Scales: Introduction to various scales to evoke different emotions and moods.Â
3. Playing with Accompaniment: Learn to play along with simple drone or rhythmic accompaniments.
Module 4: Integration and PerformanceÂ
1. Combining Techniques: Integrate all learned skills into cohesive musical pieces.Â
2. Personal Expression: Encouragement to compose personal crafted melodiesÂ
3. Final Performance: Host a performance where students have the option of showcasing their progress.
