A signature event on Mackay’s calendar, Whitsunday Voices is the largest youth literature festival in regional Queensland, attracting over 7000 students from schools in and around the Mackay region. Celebrating 21 years in 2025, Whitsunday Voices has gone from strength to strength since its inception in 2004. Held annually in July, this vibrant Festival hosts a stellar line-up of Australian literary talent to inspire and enhance a love of books, writing and illustrative art among students from Preparatory to Year 12.
