Who dropped the ball and does it matter?
Event description
Wise words shared by Brian Dyson, former CEO of Coca-Cola when talking to graduate students. He said: "Imagine life as a game in which you are juggling some five balls in the air. You name them work, family, health, friends and spirit. And you’re keeping all of these in the air.
"You will soon understand that work is a rubber ball. If you drop it, it will bounce back. But the other four balls – family, health, friends and spirit – are made of glass. If you drop one of these, they will be irrevocably scuffed, marked, nicked, damaged or even shattered. They will never be the same. You must understand that and strive for balance in your life."
What is needed more than anything at the moment are organisations that embrace their teams and the learnings of the past 18 months with creativity and ingenuity. Creating cultures that enable employees to keep the important balls in the air and develop resilience when the occasional ball drops.Â
Meet the startup and business leaders embracing family, in all its shapes and sizes, to support the juggle, with an honest look at the compromises made along the way and the balls you can drop in order to be successful.
