Whole System's Whole People: Collaborative Family Violence Practice

This case-study-led training immerses practitioners in real-world scenarios, building practical skills for working effectively with both the Adult Experiencing Violence (AEV) and the Adult Using Violence (AUV). This package covers working with the family as a whole and is designed for people who hold intermediate responsibilities under the MARAM Framework, along with those who hold comprehensive responsibilities who want to understand their role in providing secondary consultation and response.

The Essentials has a strong emphasis on how to work with family violence that:

• is at the early intervention stage.

• but can be supported in the intermediate agencies with support from the comprehensive services.

• the family unit is choosing to remain together.

• the case is not significant enough to indicate statutory involvement.

• The case study will intersect with Health and/or Dep Ed

• The case study is designed to be adapted for the audiences context.

Learning Outcomes:

• Apply a narrative approach to assessments for both people using violence and people who are experiencing violence, enabling a deeper understanding of their circumstances and needs

• Integrate and build upon existing assessments completed by other professionals to reduce duplication and strengthen collaborative practice.

• Determine the level of family violence risk a client is experiencing and apply a client-led approach to develop effective, tailored risk mitigation strategies.

• Use the Family Violence and Child Information Sharing Schemes (FVISS/CISS) to gather, interpret, and synthesise information for all members of a family where family violence is present.

• Understand how to implement collaborative risk management practices by working with partner agencies, keeping the person using violence visible, and contributing to coordinated safety planning, in specialist and other services.
  

This is a face to face session and participants are expected to participate in activities and discussions on the day.
