Wholeness - Creativity & Yoga
Event description
Can we let you into a secret? We all have creative energy within us.
Some of us, based on our experiences through life, have learned to hide that creative spark away and now find it difficult to access.
In this workshop of exploration Abi Couchman - Yoga Therapist and Karen Adler - Art Therapist will create a safe space for you to play and explore ideas such as:
What is creativity?
What negative stories do we have about ourselves and creativity?
How can we access creative energy?
What happens when we do?
Aparigraha is the last Yama in Patanjali's 8 limbs of yoga and is roughly translated as non attachment. We will use the teaching of this Yama to support us in not concerning ourselves with the outcome of what we produce but to simply be in the present moment as we create. We will practice accessing the beauty that lives within each of us and learn to express that outside of ourselves without judgement.
We will use gentle movement and breath practice to nurture feelings of safety and to cultivate a sense of emotional balance from which to explore simple creative practices. As we spend time finding wholeness through the union of breath, movement and awareness we are able to start to more easily re-engage with the parts of ourselves that may wish to find expression.
No prior yoga or art experience is necessary.
All movement will be adapted to the physical capabilities of the participants in the room and can be done seated if required.
Delicious Morning Tea and Refreshments, Yoga Equipment and Art Supplies are all provided.
We look forward to holding space for you to move, play, create and spark joy!
