Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?
Event description
Unity Hall and the Theater at Woodshill present Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? February 5-8, 2025.
Edward Albee’s iconic play Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? is an electrifying work that opened on Broadway in 1962. The production received rave reviews for its raw power and provocative content winning the Tony Award for Best Play. Its controversial exploration of a volatile, co-dependent marriage sparked a new era in the American theater vernacular.
The Broadway production ran for nearly two years and was adapted for the screen in 1966 starring Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, Sandy Dennis and George Segal. The film earned 13 Academy Award nominations and won five.
The February production at Unity Hall features Alastair Boag and Jane Elias imported from London and NY city, along with actors Allen Guy Wilcox and Maggie Stephens, all of whom will be familiar to Woodshill’s Shakespeare audiences.
