The AGSM Student Association (ASA) is proud to present "Why Diversity Wins", a networking evening bringing together students and industry to hear and share our stories on diversity, inclusion, and growth. Six guest speakers will present their short, impactful stories throughout the evening, with food and networking in between. You are also invited to share your experiences on navigating diversity and how diversity wins in your career/industry in conversations.

Join us in celebrating diversity with guests from diverse groups (e.g. Aboriginal, CALD, Pride, Women) from industry, including financial and professional services, technology, retail, etc. The event aims to increase awareness about successful diverse working environments and foster industry connections for students.

The event is open to UNSW Business School and AGSM students, alumni, and staff members. Interested parties from other faculties are also welcome.

Guest Speakers


Abs Osseiran

Abs Osseiran is a Corporate Tax Partner in Deloitte, with 20 years’ experience providing advice on Australian and international taxation matters. He is also the Alliances Leader and Consumer Sector Leader for Deloitte Australia’s Tax & Legal business. 

Prior to joining Deloitte, Abs has worked with leading organisations such as Lion, Sony, Cadbury and Accenture across Australia and Europe. He is also the Chair of the Australian Retailer’s Association Tax Committee.

Abs leads the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (LGBTI+) Pillar for Deloitte Australia. In addition to being on the board of Sydney WorldPride, Abs also sits on the Boards of Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras (as Treasurer) and of Queer Screen (as Co-Chair and Treasurer).


Aina Musaeva

Aina Musaeva is a data scientist at KPMG, leading and developing machine learning solutions on client analytics projects. She also serves as the Data Lead for Pride@KPMG.

Prior to consulting, she has worked in astrophysics, technology and government sectors. Aina is also an active volunteer for Women in Artificial Intelligence (AI), empowering the underprivileged Australian communities to pursue careers in data and technology. She also teaches science in a variety of paid and volunteer science promotion initiatives.

Aina leads with empathy, because psychological safety creates the best-performing teams. Outside of work, she is a black hole hunter and a self-professed 'crazy cat lady'.

Chris Zerial

An experienced business professional with a passion for all things to do with Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Currently Chair for Scentre Groups LGBTI+ Inclusion Network, Chris leads by example by being an open and out leader within the group. In addition to the work that he does in the inclusion space, he also has a strong background in managing strategic, operational and commercial outcomes across Scentre Groups portfolio of living destinations. Chris has a bachelor of business from the University of Western Sydney and is also an alumni of the University of Sydney, having completed his MBA in 2018.

Rani Nandan

With more than 15 years’ experience working across retail, contact centre and sales environments as an HR leader, Rani Nandan has a passion for diversity, inclusion and HR business partnering. 

Since joining PageGroup in 2015, Rani has been the driving force behind progress in diversity and inclusion for the Australian business. 

In mid-2021, Rani was promoted to D&I Director, APAC. This role focusses on developing and deploying PageGroup’s D&I strategy across the Asia Pacific region, building on the framework she has successfully delivered across Australia in the past six years. In this role she works collaboratively with PageGroup’s global D&I team, the APAC Executive Leaders and Country Heads across the region.

Sandra D'Souza

Sandra has been advocating for women’s rights ever since she was a teenager. She is the recipient of the Edna Ryan Award for Mentoring (for the advancement of women) in 2008 and was shortlisted for NSW Women Awards in 2018.

On International Women’s Day 2019, Sandra launched Ellect to address the gender gap in business. In early 2022, Ellect launched Ellect Star which awards companies on their achievement in gender equality in business. The purpose of Ellect Star is to highlight businesses that have achieved in bringing gender balance in their Board of Directors and Senior Leadership Team.

Ellect is aligned with United Nations Sustainable Development Goal no. 5 – Gender Equality and Goal no. 10 – Reduced Inequalities as a purpose driven business.
