Why Ukraine matters – a NATO perspective
Event description
Just over one year ago, Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine shattered peace on the European continent and altered the Trans-Atlantic security environment more so than at any time since the end of World War 2. Russian aggression towards Ukraine has profound implications not only for European security, but also for the rules based international order, global peace and the security of small nations around the world. Join Dr. Bennedetta Berti, head of NATO’s Policy and Planning and author of the alliance’s “2030 Strategic Concept”, as she explores why the war in Ukraine matters to countries around the world, from those in Europe, to those in the Pacific, including New Zealand.
The event is chaired by Professor Rouben Azizian, co-chair of the NZIIA Auckland Branch, with additional comments by His Excellency Ard van der Vorst, Ambassador of The Netherlands to New Zealand.
Organised by New Zealand Institute of International Affairs Auckland Branch, Massey University Centre for Defence and Strategic Studies, and the Embassy of the Netherlands to New Zealand.
Arrive at 5.45pm for a 6pm start.
Refreshments will be served. The event is free to attend.
