WIC Breakfast Series 2024 "Bringing others along" - 24 October

Please join us for the last breakfast of 2024 in our breakfast series focusing on "Bringing others along". The topic for this series is "Bringing others along because we are better together!” focusing on how one person bringing someone along can impact one's personal and professional life. #BetterTogether

October's special guest speaker will be Lindy Hou

Her childhood dream was to win an Olympic medal but fate stepped in and instead the dream was fulfilled by winning One Gold, Two Silver and One Bronze medal at the Athens Paralympic Games in Tandem Cycling. At the 2008 Beijing Paralympic Games, she came back with 2 more medals, a Silver and a Bronze. She was honoured with the Order of Australia Medal on the 2005 Australia Day for her service to sports. Lindy has a degenerative eye condition called Retinitis Pigmentosa, and she has been legally blind since 1996. She is now almost totally blind. Her Guide Dog Comet sadly passed away on the 6 the June. He was a trusted and loyal guide for 9 years. Lindy now reliance on the long cane to get around. Prior to losing her sight, Lindy had a very successful career in the Information Technology industry as a computer consultant. Lindy worked with many major Corporations to develop and implement Accounting software. She has extensive experience in programming, system analysis and project management. Lindy’s vision slowly deteriorated over the years. She was able to transit through various computer technologies from large screen, screen magnifier and then currently using screen reading software. She loves exploring new technologies to enable her to participate as much as any sighted person. Her life journey, both challenging and rewarding, has made her the person that she is. She loves nothing better than to share this journey to “empower people to achieve their own personal best”.

We have allocated seats to assist The Marion in serving the correct dietary requirements. We ask that you ensure you select dietary requirements at the time of registration.

The event registration will close on the 17 of October as we need to finalise numbers and dietary requirements. Late registrations cannot be catered for.
