Talented women elevating Canberra’s ICT industry will be applauded for their career achievements at this year’s Women in ICT (WIC) Awards.

The prestigious awards will take place at the WIC Annual Dinner Debate on Friday 15 November at Hotel Realm Canberra, recognising a number of emerging and successful ICT leaders and empowering others.

Six awards will be presented on the night, including the WICked Woman of the Year Award, which commends a thriving woman in the ICT industry.

Debate Topic: Technology is making us stupid

In addition to the awards, six of Canberra’s ICT leaders will battle it out in a light-hearted dinner debate on the night around the topic: ‘Technology is making us stupid’.

WICked Woman of the Year Award

The WICked Woman of the Year Award recognises the amazing work of a woman in the ICT industry. Nominations are sought for women in the ACT who significantly contribute, act as a role model or mentor for women and encourage women into the industry every day.

WIC Defying Gravity Award

The WIC Defying Gravity Award seeks to recognise an inspiring early-mid career woman who is breaking through and making change towards gender equity in ICT. The recipient of this award will receive an honorary position on the WIC committee.

WIC Male Champion of Change Award

The WIC Male Champion of Change Award recognises a male leader in the ACT region who through their actions and influence has advanced gender equity within ICT.

Kate Muir Student Encouragement Award

Every year WIC recognises the achievements of a young female secondary school student and awards them a financial contribution to assist with their tertiary studies in Information, Communications and Technology.

Raw Magic Award

WIC’s Raw Magic Award is open to female tertiary students who have already graduated or will graduate from an ICT or digital STEM field between July 2024 and June 2025. The recipient of this award will receive a two-year WIC membership, access to WIC events for an entire year, coaching from a committee member and support in building their CV and LinkedIn profile.

NextGen ICT Award

WIC's inaugural NextGen ICT Award seeks to support a woman through her ICT, digital-related STEM tertiary studies. The winner of the NextGen ICT Award will receive a scholarship.

Awards will be presented at the WIC Dinner Debate on 15 November 2024. Shortlisted students will be invited to attend the dinner.

The NextGen ICT Award is available to young women who meet the following criteria:

They are currently in/finishing their first year of ICT digital-related STEM tertiary studies
Have demonstrated a strong academic record throughout their first year of study
They are intending to build a career in the ICT or a related digital technology industry

Donations to WIC will contribute to funding this award and they allow students to attend the dinner debate. You are encouraged to donate a little extra when you buy your ticket.
