2025 Annual Dinner Debate: Celebrating 25 Years of Women in ICT (WIC)

2025 marks a significant milestone – the 25th anniversary of Women in ICT (WIC). For a quarter of a century, WIC has been championing, connecting, and recognising talented women shaping Canberra’s ICT industry.

Join us for this special event on Friday 14 November at Hotel Realm, Canberra. The event will kick start with welcome drinks beginning at 5:30pm, followed by a sit-down dinner at 6:30pm, award ceremony, energetic debate and live entertainment to see the night through

As part of the 25-year celebrations, talented women elevating Canberra’s ICT industry will be applauded for their career achievements at this year’s Women in ICT (WIC) Awards.

Awards

The prestigious awards will take place at the annual Dinner Debate, and recognise women, both established, emerging and yet to commence their ICT journey, and men who work to champion women in the Information and Communication industry.

We have awards across six categories, recognising women at all stages of their career journey, including;

WICked Woman of the Year Award

The WICked Woman of the Year Award recognises the amazing work of a woman in the ICT industry. Nominations are sought for women in the ACT who significantly contribute, act as a role model or mentor for women and encourage women into the industry every day.  

WIC Defying Gravity Award

The WIC Defying Gravity Award seeks to recognise an inspiring early-mid career woman who is breaking through and making change towards gender equity in ICT. The recipient of this award will receive an honorary position on the WIC committee. 

WIC Male Champion of Change Award

The WIC Male Champion of Change Award recognises a male leader in the ACT region who through their actions and influence has advanced gender equity within ICT. 

NextGen Award

WIC's NextGen Award seeks to support a woman through her ICT, digital-related STEM tertiary studies. The winner of the NextGen Award will receive a scholarship. 

Rachel Muldoon Raw Magic Award

The WIC Rachel Muldoon Raw Magic Award recognises a female tertiary student who have already graduated or will graduate from an ICT or digital-related STEM field between July 2025 and June 2026. The recipient of this award will receive a two-year WIC membership, access to WIC events for an entire year, coaching from a committee member and support in building their CV and LinkedIn profile.

Kate Muir Student Encouragement Award

The WIC Kate Muir Student Encouragement Award recognises the achievements of a young female secondary school student and awards them a financial contribution to assist with their tertiary studies in ICT.

Donations to WIC will contribute to funding this award and they allow students to attend the dinner debate. You are encouraged to donate a little extra when you buy your ticket.

Debate Topic: Robots make better leaders than humans

Adding to the excitement of the evening, and in true 25th-year style, six of WIC’s alumni will go head-to-head in WIC’s much-loved dinner debate, making for a lively, witty, and memorable discussion that’s sure to entertain. Full details of the topic will be revealed soon.
