Wicking beds are water efficient raised garden beds that harvest and store water within an in-built reservoir that water your garden from the bottom to the top.
The result is a productive, resilient and easy to use garden bed that can withstand tough conditions and thrive in our hot South Australian dry summers.

This in-depth workshop covers all the ins and outs of how to design and build your very own wicking bed.

Learn all the industry standards, correct techniques, DIY tips, alternative systems and best methods for building your perfect wicking bed.

About the Presenter:
Kym Ormond has been building wicking beds for over 7 years and has spent many, many, many hours troubleshooting custom wicking bed building.
Besides building wicking beds Kym is a permaculturist who spends most of his time growing plants. Kym is co-owner of Nomad Nursery and previously owned Port Adelaide Food Gardening as well as being involved with many different farms, market gardens, community gardens and other food growing projects.

    What to bring:
    We provide a comprehensive handout that explains everything we cover in the course however, we also recommend a notebook for taking notes.
    As this workshop is taking place in a community garden, we recommend packing lunch and a water bottle.
