Wicking Bed Workshop
Event description
Interested in growing your own veggies at home but don't think you have the space, time or knowledge?
Well let us introduce you to the Wicking bed. A space saving raised garden bed made from recycled materials that takes the worry out of gardening. It waters plants from the bottom up resulting in 70% less water usage than retic or hand watering meaning you saving $$$ whilst playing a big part in a sustainable water wise future for all.
Wicking beds are especially valuable for first time gardeners and time poor persons as the internal water reservoir means you only need to fill the beds once every few weeks meaning you can still enjoy that end of year camping trip, or night spent away with the fam knowing your produce is watered and happy.
If your already in the know about wicking beds and want to learn all the hints and tricks, this workshop is for you. Let us show you why you should not be filling your reservoir with blue metal!!
Julian from Perth Wicking Beds is teaming up with Kwinana Community Gardens, Dep of Communities and the Frank Konecny centre to bring you this hands on workshop leaving you confident to make your own beds at home.
All proceeds from ticket sales go to the Kwinana Community Gardens Inc to help raise funds towards their mission to turn unused plots of land in the Kwinana area into productive food areas.
Course will include a short powerpoint session followed by a hands on interactive wicking bed build.
Refreshments provided.
