Following the International Festival of Wild and Kind Ideas from May 20-25, join us every Wednesday in June, for a special live Permaculture Education Institute conversation series hosted online by Morag Gamble—celebrating permaculture, World Localization Month and World Environment Day 2026—a gathering of voices exploring how we can cultivate resilient communities, regenerative cultures, ecological wisdom, and hopeful futures in a rapidly changing world.
This four-part online series brings together internationally respected thinkers, educators, growers, herbalists, permaculture pioneers, and storytellers for rich, podcast-style conversations with live audience participation.
We’ll explore practical responses to the social, ecological, and cultural challenges of our time, and the local, relational, and regenerative pathways emerging around the world.

Avid street gardener and inner city biodiversity advocate Emma Cutting will share insights into community action on the commons and systems change systems, and cultivating meaningful relationships with urban places.
24 JUNE - Liz Zorab: Growing simple abundance

Welsh-based grower, educator, BBC Radio announcer, YouTuber and author, Liz Zorab, joins us for a conversation about everyday permaculture, abundant gardening, practical resilience, and creating beauty and nourishment in uncertain times.

Led by Local Futures and founded by Helena Norberg-Hodge, World Localization Month brings people together each June to celebrate local solutions and strengthen communities. Through conversations, events, storytelling, and collective action, it builds momentum for more resilient local economies and more connected ways of living.
World Environment Day (June 5) focuses on climate change - on the urgent signals the Earth is sending and the signals we choose to send back.
The global campaign led by United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) reminds us that the question is no longer if change is coming, but how we respond, how we adapt, and how we participate in shaping what comes next. This series is an invitation into that conversation!

ABOUT THE PERMACULTURE EDUCATION INSTITUTE
This event is brought to you courtesy of Morag Gamble at the Permaculture Education Institute, based at Crystal Waters Ecovillage on Jinibara and Gubbi Gubbi country, offers online courses and mentoring to support people worldwide to become designers, teachers and leaders of permaculture programs and to activate permaculture projects and communities. The Institute hosts regular global conversations exploring ecological worldviews, one-planet living and regenerative practices.

Morag Gamble - Host
Morag Gamble is the Founder and Director of the Permaculture Education Institute teaching permaculture educators and designers on six continents. She has lived for more than quarter of a century in an award-winning ecovillage and has taught at leading ecological learning centres around the world, such as Schumacher College Morag is curator and host of the International Festival of Wild and Kind Ideas. She creates the Sense-Making in a Changing World Podcast, and the Our Permaculture Life BLOG and YouTube - collectively viewed millions of times. She is also the Director of Ethos Foundation - a registered charity offering free permaculture education for refugees. She hosts the Ethos Fellowship alongside Schumacher College Fellow, Fritjof Capra. She collaborates with the Ecocivilization Coalition, is a member of the Institute for Deep Ecology advisory board.
Emma Cutting (Sorry, live session cancelled - guest has a bad cold)
Emma Cutting is the founder of Heartscapes, an initiative which seeks to green our streetscapes and bring the community together through street gardening, and creator of the Melbourne Pollinator Corridor that connects 300,000 locals to nature. She is absolutely passionate about inner city biodiversity conservation. You may have seen her featured on the ABC TV ‘Gardening Australia’ program! She also has an online street gardening course. Emma has written the ‘Melbourne Pollinator Corridor Handbook’ as an introduction to native bees, gardening for native bees and street gardening.
Liz Zorab - 24 June
Liz Zorab is a best-selling author, award-winning video maker and gardener, and food grower. She is a gardening expert on BBC Radio Wales and regular writer for Amateur Gardening magazine and Permaculture magazine. She teaches gardening and self-sufficiency skills and encourages hundreds of thousands of people across the globe to garden, through her YouTube channel, Liz Zorab - Byther Farm. Based in Carmarthenshire, Wales, Liz runs a smallholding using organic and nature-led gardening practices.
David Holmgren - 3 June (Replay Available)
David Holmgren is the co-originator of the permaculture concept and a leading voice in ecological design. Since co-authoring Permaculture One with Bill Mollison in 1978, he has spent over four decades developing Melliodora, the world-renowned demonstration site, where he lives with his partner, Su Dennett. An influential futurist and author of Permaculture: Principles and Pathways Beyond Sustainability and RetroSuburbia, David’s work focuses on low-carbon living, household self- and community- reliance, and regenerative land management. He remains a pivotal figure in guiding humanity through the challenges of the energy descent future. The link below is for his documentary, Reading Landscape with David Holmgren.
Anne Stobart - 10 June
Anne Stobart is a medical herbalist and herb grower based in Devon, UK. Anne remembers an early interest in plants, and she was delighted to be given books about herbs when she was young. Rather later in life, Anne trained as a medical herbalist and started a practice as a consultant medical herbalist in Devon. The training which Anne undertook formed the basis of the first professional herbal medicine practitioner course validated as a degree in the UK. Anne cofounded the Holt Wood Herbs project (2005-2020) based on permaculture design principles, transforming a redundant conifer plantation into a thriving medicinal forest garden. Her publications include The Medicinal Forest Garden Handbook (2020) and Trees And Shrubs That Heal: Reconnecting With The Medicinal Forest (2023) available from Permanent Publications. Currently, she is developing the Medicinal Forest Garden Trust online website and working with several groups on medicinal forest garden projects. Anne offers online courses in growing and using medicinal trees and shrubs which can be accessed through the website. Her work focuses on promoting sustainability in medicinal harvests of trees. She is a member of the advisory board for the Journal of Herbal Medicine, and is an Honorary University Fellow at the University of Exeter, UK. Anne has expertise in researching the history of herbal medicine, and has published research articles on historical recipes and the history of herbal medicine.
