Wild at Twilight - A Beltane/Early Summer Story

An evening of Beltane and Early Summer - join Born Wild Community and Currawong Collective for an intimate twilight gathering celebrating the warming of early Summer, the change in Wadawurrung seasons, Beltane stories and traditions, connection, fire and wild creatures.

This event takes place on Wadawurrung Country. We acknowledge the Wadawurrung people as the traditional custodians of this land and pay our respects to Elders past and present. The Wadawurrung people have gathered on Country for thousands of years, living with and caring deeply for the land, waterways and seasons. Gathering with community to mark the turning of the seasons, to tell stories, to tend fire and to connect with the natural world is something deeply human and deeply rooted in this place long before we arrived. We hold this lightly, and with respect, as we come together this evening.

What to expect

Inspired by the spring festivals of the northern hemisphere and grounded in our own experience of seasonal change here on Wadawurrung Country, we'll gather at twilight to notice the signs of early summer.

-       Guided twilight nature walk

-       Woodland puppet story

-       Family nature craft

-       Fire gathering

-       Seasonal campfire foods

-       Wild creature dress-up encouraged: Come dressed as a “creature of the forest”

Individuals, Couples and Families with children of all ages welcome
