Wild Connection (Human/Nature) - 4 week Series
Description
If you want more belonging and connection in your life, and you love nature, or want to get more aquainted with her, then this event is for you!
We will be gathering over 4 Sunday afternoons in a beautiful and lush bushland setting to practice a guided set of activities that foster deep connection to place.
We will learn to open our senses, notice more detail in the landscape and read the signs there, develop our curiosity and follow it to solve some of the mysteries that nature presents, and we will also touch on learning what the bird calls can tell us about what is going on.
Some of the activities are done as a group, and there will also be some solo time each week. There’s a powerful rhythm that all land-connected cultures have always followed, of going out to hunt/forage/explore, and then coming back together to share stories. We follow this out-and-back pulse because it's been found to embed our experiences deeper into our brain and body, so that they become an intrinsic part of who we are. The group becomes a magnifier, as well as another layer of connection - it’s a special way of bonding with other people.
There’s a magic that happens when you return again and again to one place, and slow down and really get to know it. Over the 4 weeks you’ll get to know this special place in a way that you wouldn’t if you went there for a bushwalk. And you’ll learn ways to connect that you can use anywhere in the world.
Our core group that has been doing this practice here for 6 months now has had the delight of getting to know this place so well through her seasonal changes, and has found that a joyful and profound experience.
After these gatherings people report feeling wonder, calm, groundedness, vitality and excitement for life, and also share that the things they see and feel and experience here reflect back to them a keen sense of their own wild nature.
I’ve seen this work be profoundly healing for many people and I’m SO excited to bring together another group of like-minded souls to take this journey together. Over the four weeks we will weave deep bonds of connection and support, and we can't wait to welcome you into the magic.
The four sessions will be on the following dates:
Sun November 15, 2-4.30pm
Sun November 22, 2-4.30pm
Sun November 29, 2-4.30pm
Sun December 6, 2-4.30pm
The price is $140 for the four sessions.

Logistics
We will meet in a very special piece of bushland in Tuerong on the Mornington Peninsula (Bunurong/BoonWurrung country). When you register you will be given the address and directions.
We will be walking into our meeting spot together from the gate (about 7 minutes walk), so punctuality is essential.
As the event is 100% outdoors, you will need clothing appropriate to the weather, including sun protection, water and snacks. A natural insect repellent will be available for your use.
You will also need something to sit on, either a small mat or a chair.
There are no toilets on the site but there are some a few minutes drive away, so you can go immediately before and after!
In the event of heavy rain or very strong winds on any of the days we will attempt to reschedule. However we will have adaptations for most weather conditions including light rain - but please bring rain gear if it does look wet. We encourage you to be open to different weather conditions as we find that wet weather, for example provides unique experiences that would otherwise be missed.
Accessibility: There are no steps. We will walk on dirt road tracks and in grassy areas, there are some very gentle slopes, and occasionally bumpy areas. Please contact me if you are wondering if this is suitable for you, most of our practices can be adapted, and we can discuss your needs.
Who we are and where we are coming from
The guided practices and frame for this event will be based on the work of Jon Young, American naturalist, tracker, author, mentor and teacher, who has spent over 40 years working on the study and practice of nature connectivity and community building. You can learn more about his work here https://www.livingconnection1st.net/
I am Gigi, your facilitator, and I'm a somatic therapist and former ecologist. I've been doing this nature connection work since 2013 and it's the perfect bridge between my two passions.
As an ecologist the part of my job that lit me up the most was sharing my love of the natural world with private landholders and community members, and inspiring them to love and protect it too.
As a therapist who specialises in nervous system health my greatest passion is helping people reconnect to nature - I don't think we can be truly healthy and happy without restoring our relationship to the wild.
I will be assisted by my two dear friends Fiona and Adele.
Fiona is a committed community builder who has studied Nature Based Leadership with author Claire Dunn, and Adele is a serious plant lover with extensive experience in community facilitation in the environmental field. They both have a deep passion for nature and bring unique and wonderful skills and wisdoms to this project.
Together we are committed to being part of building a new future that sees humans reassume the role of true caretakers of the earth, living in harmony and reverence to her.
