Description

NATIVE PLANTS & WILDLIFE
Join local printmaker Megan Ruby Lee for an inspiring hands-on introduction to linocut printmaking, celebrating the rich beauty and intricate detail of the natural world at the Mooloolah River Landcare Seed Pod.

This beginner-friendly workshop will focus on native plants and wildlife, offering a beautiful starting point for your designs. You are also welcome to bring your own reference materials if you have something specific you’d like to explore.

In this beginner-friendly workshop, Megan will guide you through:

  • Observing and sketching natural forms, and translating textures and patterns into linocut designs

  • Learning the fundamentals of linocut printmaking - from carving and inking to hand-printing using a variety of papers and tools

  • Creating your own unique, nature-inspired prints to take home - ready to frame or gift (perfect for the lead-up to Christmas!)

You’ll also leave with your carved lino block, so you can continue printing beyond the workshop, along with the prints you create during the session.

Whether you're completely new to printmaking or looking to deepen your creative connection with nature, this workshop offers a relaxed and supportive space to slow down, learn new skills, and engage with the beauty of the local environment.

About Megan Ruby Lee

Megan is a Sunshine Coast-based artist working on Kabi Kabi / Gubbi Gubbi Country. She has been printmaking since she was 14, creating detailed linocut works inspired by Australia’s native flora, fauna, and landscapes. Her practice is grounded in a deep respect for the natural world, with a focus on fostering greater appreciation and care for its diversity.

This workshop takes place on the traditional lands of the Kabi Kabi/Gubbi Gubbi people. I acknowledge their enduring connection to Country, and the culture, knowledge and stories carried through generations that continue to shape how we relate to and care for place.
