Wildflower Wanders - Yalukit Willam Nature Reserve
Description
Spring is one of the best times to discover Bayside’s hidden natural treasures, as indigenous wildflowers burst into bloom across local bushland reserves and heathlands.
Wildflower Wanders returns this spring, inviting visitors to explore the remarkable diversity of plants that thrive across Bayside’s unique coastal environment. Join us for a walk with Jarrod Fleming and team through Yalukit Willam Nature Reserve and explore the Wildflower Meadow in this beautiful urban oasis.
Jarrod is a highly experienced ecologist and environmental restoration specialist whose expertise lies in constructed wetlands and ecological restoration. As Project Lead for the Reserve, he collaborated with the University of Melbourne's UEDLAB and Mosaic Design to design and create the Reserve's Wildflower Meadow, featuring more than 60 indigenous plant species.
The meadow continues to thrive with the ongoing support and stewardship of the site's dedicated community volunteer group who work alongside Bayside City Council, and October is the perfect time to see it come to life in a spectacular sea of colour.
