Event description

Join us at Kings Park during the September Wildflower Festival for a peaceful and playful painting session inspired by Western Australia’s stunning native flora.

Spring brings a breathtaking display of wildflowers to the WA bushland, and in this beginner-friendly class, you’ll have the chance to capture their beauty on paper using a beautiful ink and watercolour technique. This method combines fine pen linework with soft, expressive watercolour washes—perfect for highlighting the delicate forms and vibrant colours of native flowers.

Surrounded by the natural beauty of Kings Park and guided by local Perth artist Ellie Biggs, you'll spend two hours learning techniques, experimenting with materials, and expressing your creativity in a relaxed setting. We’ll also have a selection of tea and sweet treats for you to enjoy while you paint.

No experience? No problem! Whether you're painting solo or coming with friends, this class is all about enjoyment, learning something new, and creating your own floral masterpiece.

Where: Kings Park Education Centre Green Room or Ngoolark Pavilion

On Saturday 13th, classes will be held outside at the Nooglark Pavilion, located on the grassed area near the Education Room. Please note these sessions are weather-dependent—if it is raining or very windy, the class will not proceed and we will notify you in the days prior.

We recommend dressing appropriately for the conditions. While we will be mostly undercover, it can still be warm or cool, so please bring a hat, sunscreen, and a jumper.

All other classes will be hosted inside in the Kings Park Education Centre Green Room.

What is included:

  • All art supplies

  • Watercolour paper

  • A selection of flower photographs, native flower arrangements and plant ID books to paint from
