Wildlife Friendly Rodent Control - The Big Challenge Forum 2
Event description
Do something different. Be the change.
The Big Challenge – Wildlife Friendly Forums invite everyone to be part of a growing movement to protect local wildlife and domestic pets from the hidden dangers of second-generation anticoagulant rodenticides (SGARs) and unsustainable rodent control methods.
Forum 2 is focussed on all creatures that live in and around water - which is particularly relevant to the City of Swan - Ellen Brook and the Swan River as well as many smaller creeks and waterways such as the Ki It Monger. As well as all our contributing waterways to the Swan River Swan is home to the most endangered reptile on the planet - the Western Swamp Tortoise.
Forum 2 brings together a popular citizen scientist, Ian Barlow - the Crazy Bushman, a respected scientist whose specialty is frogs and reptiles, Dr Damian Lettoof and youth activist Poppy Mahon from Youth Action for Wildlife. You'll gain powerful insights into the lives of our fresh water tortoise and how these toxins are silently affecting our wider water dwelling native species, and you’ll meet some of the incredible local animals that typically suffer due to non-wildlife-friendly pest control.
Learn about effective, safe alternatives and discover how your choices can help build a healthier, more sustainable future. Help create Swan community educational materials on this issue. Together, let’s create a wildlife-friendly rodent control movement that can lead the way in the City of Swan – and inspire change far beyond.
