At Wildly Calm, our aim is to bring together a community of men who have the tools and mindset to face adversity head on.
We used to hunt, gather, listen to the wind and feel the earth in between our toes. We used to give ourselves time to dream and then watch them play out amongst the stars as we danced and howled at the moon. We used to be challenged by the men around us - not out of ego, but in a longing to be better versions of ourselves. We used to earn our right to become a man.
When was the last time you were surrounded by a group of men that challenged you...
And also inspired you...
Where you felt comfortable to let the boy inside of you run wild with a voice of a man, clear and calm.
What to Expect
This will be Wildly Calm’s 5th official retreat, we're all about finding that sweet spot where the wild meets the calm - so expect a bit of both!
At a glance, this is a weekend away with a bunch of fellas…
But, what’s different is our communal intention. To be challenged, to be curious. To investigate and be investigated. We enter this container of expansion to ask questions of ourselves and of masculinity…
And also cause a bit of raucous chaos while doing it!
This time round we’re getting wet AND wild, a down stream white water canoeing adventure taking main stage!
Heading to Barrington river, we have a private campsite all to ourselves. Hands dirty, hearts pumping - we're going to get comfortable with the uncomfortable, embracing, the challenges and the growth that comes with it.
There will be time to stop, reflect, introspect - there will be time to dance around a fire and howl to the moon.
Expect workshops that help your mind view things through a different lens, move your body in ways that you haven't moved in some time.
Expect to be surrounded by a crew of men with shoulders big enough for you to lean on - and expect to be leaned on too.
Expect to laugh (a lot), even shed a tear - but, know that it's all welcome here.
There will be fire and lots of nourishing food. A place for you in circle and an experience that you won't forget.
The best parts of ourselves are found beyond discomfort. So, we're hoping for hardship and we're hoping that you’ll have some fun while doing it but…
We guarantee this trip will not be the same without you.
Why??
A few years ago, a group of boys set out on a camping trip - sea kayaking to an island off the coast.
It was hard...
It was uncomfortable...
Two nights later we returned as men. Stronger, more vibrant, refreshed.
The recipe? A concoction of challenge, authenticity and a whole lot of play. We ran wild, wrestled, howled - let the boy be a boy. And, through the absolute chaos and raucousness.. we saw each other truly.
When else do you allow yourself to truly let rip? All of your boisterousness, all of your expansive masculinity welcomed, adored
and then asked...
'how is your heart?'
Let's not shy away from who we are. Wild and Calm
About the Facilitators
Lockie - 'the expresser'
Lockie is an actor, breathwork facilitator and movement practitioner based on the Sunshine Coast. After spending almost seven years living out of a van, adventure has become less of a hobby and more of a way of seeing the world. He's drawn to the places that ask something of you, whether that's up in the mountains, raging swell or an honest, heart felt conversation.
He values expression, courage and vulnerability, believing that growth begins just beyond the edge of what's comfortable. When he's not facilitating breathwork, you'll usually find him hiking, camping, chasing waves or dreaming up the next adventure.
Sam - 'the adventurer'
Sam is an outdoorsman, climber, adventurer and proud North Walian whose curiosity has taken him from rugged sea cliffs to remote alpine walls. With a PhD, a first ascent in Kyrgyzstan and a life currently unfolding from a van along the East Coast, he's as comfortable navigating ideas as he is navigating mountains. Sam has found steadiness halfway up something scary as hell... and has felt most alive when sat in complete stillness.
Drawn to the edges, he is in a constant discovery of balance - not by staying fearfully in the middle, but by exploring the edges to their extreme and holding the uncomfortable in cognitive dissonance.
Kieran - ‘the architect’
A man with a plan, continuously thinking of ways to improve the world around him in a holistic sense; Kieran is an old soul that doesn’t like to say too much, but if you ask him, he’ll tell you how it is and won’t let social conventions restrict his opinions or thoughts.
Professionally, he’s an accomplished graduate architect with extensive experience working for community based architecture practices & social enterprises in Australia, Myanmar, India, Indonesia, and South Korea. He is also a qualified outdoor guide with a passion for navigating off track and whitewater canoeing. Outside of wildly calm he is building his own design studio & workshop and does occasional outdoor guiding work.

FAQs
- Is this for me?
Yes. Everyone who identifies as a man needs community. Young, old, surviving, thriving - this is for you.
But seriously, what we're about is community. We want you to be a part of it because we're sick and tired of men not being able to lean on each other - we've all been there. It's time to learn what it means to be a part of a brotherhood.
- What's included in the ticket?
Each ticket includes; delicious and nourishing meals for the entire weekend, packed full of adventure and insightful workshops, the experience of being a part of a change that has the potential to change the world.
Plus, you'll also receive a Wildly Calm journal, early access to and discounted tickets to future WildlyCalm events and, once you're in, you will always be part of the WildlyCalm CommunityPlease note Thursday dinner and Sunday lunch will not be provided.
- Where is it?
About 4 hours north west of Sydney, one of NSW’s most exquisite area’s and a place that were sure will host a weekend never to forget…
We’re heading to Barrington Tops National Park where the trees are tall and glorious, the air is pure and fresh, and where valleys are carved by untameable fresh waters.
A private property will be our home for the weekend - all to ourselves, hanging out in nature, time to disconnect and reconnect.
We often carpool to these locations and are happy to help in any way we can so let us know if you’re concerned about transport to and from the weekend.
- How do I get there?
All ticket holders will be responsible for their own travel to and from the retreat, however, carpooling is recommended and can be organised via the retreat group chat. - What to bring?
Whatever you want to bring for a weekend away!
We will supply all of the necessities for our kayaking adventure but you’re welcome to bring your own gear if you want to - we will be getting wet so a springsuit or wetsuit top would be recommended but not essential. Water shoes are also a great idea - booties or reef shoes, a pair of old runners will also do the trick.
Wildly Calm has a ‘no tent’ policy so you only need to bring a sleeping bag and mat.
If you don’t have any camping gear, just let us know! We have spares or will be able to help arrange something for you.
Snacks are recommended and of course, don’t forget to bring yourself - all of the parts, beautiful, ugly, courageous and scared. We're here for the real you.
We will also release a much more comprehensive packing list to the ticket holders closer to the event date and we promise it won’t contain any weird and pricey items.
