Wimmera Food Security Forum
Event description
The Wimmera Food Security Forum is aiming to bring together individuals and organisations that are concerned about or currently working to support people that are experiencing food insecurity.
The recent Inquiry into Food Security in Victoria outlined that the Victorian Population Health Survey 2024 found that at least 8% of Victorians experience severe food insecurity but also noted that this figure is likely to be much higher, particularly among vulnerable populations including:
older people
people with disability
children and young people, including students
unemployed and underemployed people
low‑income earners
people experiencing homelessness
single‑parent households
people living in rural areas
Join us to explore how we may be able to improve food security across the Wimmera.
Feel free to pass on details through your networks. We are particularly keen to have people working in schools, early learning, neighbourhood houses, welfare/community groups, health providers, local council, food production and distribution.
This event will include a free lunch so make sure you provide us with any dietary requirements.
