Winged Messengers - Art Exhibition - Samantha Battams
Description
Samantha Battams is an emerging artist living in the City of Charles Sturt, currently focusing on acrylics. She is also a non-fiction author who recently discovered that her family connection with this area goes back to her 3x great grandfather, who was a gardener for Captain Charles Sturt at Reedbeds.
Samantha describes her art in the following words: 'I love painting birds, which I find serene, beautiful and uplifting, enabling us to feel connected to nature. They are tied to the cycle of life, both for humans and nature. They transfer seeds and pollen and regenerate our local plants, trees and forests. I also believe they are linked to the life-death-life cycle of humans, often acting as little messengers from departed loved ones. These birds and insects are ones that I have seen in my own backyard, local park or region, and further afield on my travels throughout South Australia.'
