Winter Concert: Dance with the Moon feat. Tendai Muparutsa

In this second show of Kutandara’s 2024-2025 concert series, we celebrate living Zimbabwean legend Tendai Muparutsa. Tendai is an internationally known performer, music educator, ethnomusicologist, and bandleader. His high energy, humor, and passion for sharing African music delight audiences and students alike.

In collaboration with Tendai, this show will feature our premier performing marimba group Kutandara. During the first set, audience members will enjoy the familiar sound of Kutandara’s marimba orchestra, with the added energy and charisma of Tendai fronting the band. The second set will feature Tendai's hand-picked local talent to create his electric band sound. Kutandara's teen marimba bands will play a short opening set.

This concert doubles as a fundraiser, supporting Kutandara’s Visiting Artist program. Your participation helps bring Zimbabwean artists to Boulder, enriching our community with their vibrant music and culture.

Unlike last year's Winter Concert at eTown, there will be a dance floor for which patrons can choose a "standing-room-only" ticket (for the dance floor only), or the convenience of a seated ticket with an opportunity to get up and dance as the music gets rolling.
