Join us for a Winter Salon at Magpie Ridge in the Adelaide Hills.
Featuring readings by writers Matt Hooton, Rosemary Jones and Georgia Phillips, and music from Alison Coppe.
We will provide hot soup, crusty bread, wine and juice, and a cosy fire.

Matthew Hooton is the author of the novels Everything Lost, Everything Found (2025),Typhoon Kingdom (2019), and Deloume Road (2010). He has written short stories and essays for journals, magazines, and newspapers around the world, and teaches creative writing at the University of Adelaide, where he is also a member of the JM Coetzee Centre for Creative Practice.
Rosemary Jones is a South Australian living in Connecticut. Her essays and stories have appeared in Creative Nonfiction, Cimarron Review, Cleaver, Denver Quarterly, Sonora Review, Brilliant Flash, The Forge, and elsewhere. Her work has been nominated for a Pushcart prize, awarded an Alligator Juniper prize for nonfiction, and listed as notable in Best American Essays.
Georgia Phillips (she/her) is an award-winning writer who publishes fiction, creative non-fiction, poetry, literary criticism and academic scholarship. She is the author of the literary historical novel, The Bearcat, published by Picador in April 2025 and is at work on her second novel and a book length collection of poems. Georgia is a Lecturer in Creative Writing at The University of Adelaide.
Alison Coppe is a singer-songwriter and poet living on Kaurna land. With a bold voice and provocative lyrics, Alison Coppe has carved out a place at the heart of Adelaide’s rich singer-songwriter culture. Alison released her song ’Back to Your Door’ in 2017 and her celebrated EP ‘Torrensville’ in 2021. Appearing solo, Alison’s style harks back to the lesbian feminist singer-songwriters of another era, channelling the raw energy of simple vocal and guitar performance.
