Event description

This hour and a half ceremony is dedicated to honoring the turning of the seasons from Fall to Winter in prayer, meditation, song, journaling, and somatic attunement. We will compost this last season's gifts and trials, and pray seeds of intention into the coming season.

How is grief moving or stuck in our tissues and bones?

What can praise look like during times of collective unrest and strain?

What collective rituals and practices help us to stay connected and mutually supportive during the darker, colder season?

What does it mean to honor our ancestors through the struggles and dreams currently present in our lives?

This ceremonial time together is offered to our lineage and to the unseen supportive spirits of our earth, in service to re-membering our old ways and practices of ritual in land-spirit based connection.

Please collect a small bowl of water and have a candle ready to light for our time together, if accessible (not required).

The Collectivity Project is a labor by Alyx Somas, a Native Northern American with roots from multiple Detribalized Peoples, whose maternal and paternal lineages have been living upon Tongva Lands for four generations. Their work is dedicated to Collective Cultural Re-Indigenization, partnering with the cultures of belonging, reciprocity, and restorative action. Their work holds heart in belief in all people’s inherent worth, wise ancestry, and innate ability to heal.

They share indigenous lineage teachings, supported by their experience in group facilitation and their training in somatic healing. They have spent the last decade working in education and organizing community spaces for art, healing, honoring ancestry, connecting with the land, communal grief and prayer, and rituals of initiation. They especially find joy in ceremonial song, dance, and council.

They are on a journey of Initiation, training to be a Good Elder. They are tending to multiple chronic illnesses while gently composting generations-old colonial wounding; resourcing in prayers that dismantle supremacy, and offering prayers towards the unfolding of a multicultural peoples living out restored relations, in devotion to interdependence and the ancestral ways of reverence for all that lives.

Their labor is for the world coming, where we gather together over the open flames that birth reciprocity from the fertilizer of colonialism’s decay, united in our Praise and Grief towards the expression of our true nature — Reciprocity and Deep Beauty.
