Event description
This Makuru season at John Curtin Gallery, experience some of the unique and incredible Noongar stories that make up part of Wirlomin Noongar Language and Stories.
Join us as we explore Indigenous knowledge and culture with Noongar storytellers through some incredible experiences that cement our ongoing commitment to Noongar knowledge and culture. In the Access Gallery at JCG, join us for a rare opportunity to see illustrations from several bilingual picture books published by Wirlomin Noongar Language and Stories, as part of the Mamang-miyel-ang Djinang / Seeing with the whale’s eye exhibition, and leave your messages by the Talking Tree.
Lunchtime Storytelling with Elders
In these lunchtime sessions, Curtin academics Professor Kim Scott and Dr Cass Lynch, joined by Wirlomin community members, will share readings from a series of their revitalised stories. Come along to hear about the stories that abide in the land that edges the Southern Ocean.
Kim Scott and Cass Lynch research and revitalise south coast Noongar language and song in collaboration with not-for-profit organisation Wirlomin Noongar Language and Stories.
