Event description

The Two Great Wings of the Dharma: Compassion and Wisdom

A day of online meditation with Kamala Masters and Jill Shepherd

You are warmly invited to join our international sangha for a day of online meditation practice together, exploring the inter-relationship between compassion and wisdom: how these two highly skillful qualities work together to develop depth and strength in our practice.

We will offer short dharma talks, guided meditations and Q&R sessions throughout the day, as well as time away from the screen for walking or movement practice

You're welcome to join as many of these sessions as you like, and as suits your time-zone.

Recordings of the sessions will be made available via Dharmaseed after the event.

Teachers:

Kamala Masters is one of the founders and teachers of the Vipassana Metta Foundation on Maui. She teaches retreats in the Theravada tradition at venues worldwide, including being a Guiding Teacher at the Insight Meditation Society at Barre, Massachusetts. Practicing since 1975, her teachers have been the late Anagarika Munindra of India and the late Sayadaw U Pandita of Burma, and Sayadaw U Tejaniya of Burma with whom she continues to practice. Kamala has a commitment to carrying and offering the purity of the teachings of the Buddha in a way that touches our common sense and compassion as human beings, and allows the natural inner growth of wisdom.

Jill Shepherd began practicing insight meditation in Thailand in 1999, and since that time has lived and worked at several meditation centres and monasteries in the US, Australia, England, and Thailand. She spent seven years on staff at the Insight Meditation Society (IMS) in Barre, Massachusetts, where she participated in several long retreats and Buddhist study programmes, as well as offering weekly meditation classes at a nearby prison. She is a graduate of the IMS / Spirit Rock teacher training program in the US, under the guidance of Joseph Goldstein and Gil Fronsdal.
