WISHER FULL BAND DEBUT (18+) feat. PLAINER, DIRTY HARRY and GRANNY FLAT
Event description
Hailing from Meanjin, alternative rock band Wisher fuse dreamy two-part vocal lines, unconventional tunings and dynamic riffs to create a distinct experimental sound reminiscent of groups like Dinosaur Jr, Guided by Voices and Grandaddy. Flowing guitar melodies are paired with haunting lyricism and fluttering feminine harmonies. Acoustics are dropped and amps turned up ready for their full band debut Friday, October 3rd at Season Three.
Plainer is a Meanjin-based song-disassembly ensemble. Minimalism attempted with as many people as possible. “Here for a long time, not a good time.” (sic) They’ve shared stages with Wednesday, Codeine, Alan Sparhawk, Papa M, and Cash Savage, and have played at Sonic Masala and Sonic Boom festivals. Their debut album, “Partnerships”, looms over 2025, with the first single, List, already out. MJ Lenderman once called them “a Monster Band”, which could mean several things.
Dirty Harry is a Meanjin-based band meshing indie-rock and country-alternative, influenced by a love of the Belair Lip Bombs, MJ Lendermann and Big Thief.
Newcomers Granny Flat retool the indie rock slackerisms of yesteryear with bursts of fuzzy noise and jagged guitars. Ever-shifting songs rumble throughout their set, nostalgia-baiting one moment before disintegrating into walls of sound the next. The three-piece features Darcy Weidman (drums), Ruben Fama’aea (bass), and Jacob Pickering (vocals/guitar).
