Wits Australia Webinar “Memoirs of a South African Cricket Icon and Wits Medico: Madiba, The Don, The Aussies, The Poms and more” with Ali Bacher
Event description
Please join us for an inspiring Witsie event featuring our guest of honour Dr Ali Bacher, born May 24, 1942, who led South Africa in four victorious tests against Australia in their last series before isolation. Both former South African cricket captain and legendary administrator, Ali also holds a medical degree from Wits.
It was also his untiring efforts which finally succeeded in ensuring the return of the nation to the international fold.
Ali will be sharing his stories and experiences including his associations with both Sir Donald Bradman and Nelson Mandela.
Much more than a batsman and captain. Ali was the indefatigable administrator who will go down as one of the most influential figures behind South Africa’s return and resurgence as a cricketing nation.
A legendary Witsie with an honorary Doctor of Laws.
Our thanks to Jonathan Shapiro, Senior Reporter at the Australian Financial Review who will be moderating the webinar. Jonathan is a media and finance professional.
