WLWA x Purple House NAIDOC Week Weaving Workshop
Event description
NAIDOC Week 2025 ~ 6 July ~ 13 July
This NAIDOC Week, Women Lawyers of Western Australia join with First Nations’ communities in celebrating The Next Generation - Strength, Vision and Legacy.
As part of an extended NAIDOC week celebration we are honoured to be participating in a weaving workshop led by First Nations’ women, run by the incredible Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation Purple House.
Purple House has been supporting people with kidney disease get back home to remote communities in the NT, WA and SA by providing dialysis on Country for over 20 years. The organisation provides culturally safe health services, focused on people, Country, culture and compassion.
Weaving in Indigenous communities is a deeply meaningful practice, traditionally bringing women together to share knowledge, connect to people and country, and support one another across generations.
At WLWA, we recognise the importance of listening, learning, and creating space. This workshop is not only a chance to learn a beautiful skill, but also an opportunity to connect with and listen to the wisdom of Indigenous women in WA.
