Event description

Bridget Archer is the Federal Liberal Member for Bass. She is incredibly proud of the Northern Tasmania region, where she happily resides with her husband and five children on a family farm in George Town.

After graduating year 12, Bridget worked at the Tasmanian Herbarium as an assistant curator and also worked in hospitality before attending the University of Tasmania (UTAS) obtaining a Bachelor of Arts (English and Political Science) and a Graduate Certificate in International Politics.

Bridget was incredibly fortunate to be elected to the position of Councillor for the George Town Council in 2009, deputy mayor in 2011 and Mayor from 2014 – 2018. Local government provides accessibility and accountability between elected officials and their local constituents and Bridget’s decision to run for Parliament at the 2019 election was driven by a desire to bring the focus back to the community.

In her first speech Bridget outlined her commitment to being a genuine and authentic representative for the people of northern Tasmania and wants to see voters have trust and faith in their elected representatives.

Register now for this free event to hear more about Bridget's journey into politics, including her determination to 'cross the floor' in the Federal parliament, and why she wants to see more women of all backgrounds in our Parliaments.

Please Note: This online event will be held at 1pm AEDT on the listed date.
