Women for Election In Conversation with Emily Wilding

Emily Wilding is a Local Government Councillor for the Town of Bassendean in Western Australia. Elected in October 2021, Emily was motivated to run for Council after seeing the benefits to community that local, people-focused governance can bring. Her background is in community services, specifically Youth Work, with a passion for social justice and inclusion informing the work she does. Alongside this focus on community, Emily was motivated to run by the lack of representation of people like her in practically any level of politics; as a result, she is one of a handful of transgender elected representatives in Australia.
