Women for Election In Conversation with Lidia Thorpe
Event description
Women for Election Australia invite you to our online In Conversation series, hosted by Kat Henaway. Our guest is Lidia Thorpe, Greens Senator for Victoria.
Senator Lidia Thorpe is a Gunnai and Gunditjmara woman, mother of three and grandmother living on Wurundjeri country. She’s the first Aboriginal Senator for Victoria, the first federal Aboriginal representative for The Greens and was the first Aboriginal woman in Victorian parliament in 2017 as the MP for Northcote.
Lidia, like her family, has a long history in advocacy and activism for Indigenous rights and was preselected in June 2020 to replace Richard Di Natale following his retirement as Senator for Victoria.
Register for this event to hear about Lidia’s journey into politics from Council to Federal Senator, her experience in advocacy and how that’s translated to politics and why it’s critical our Parliaments are representative of the people they govern.
