Women in aviation | Design lab 2
Event description
The Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts (DITRDCA) has a commitment to create a more gender inclusive Aviation sector. This is outlined in the Women in Aviation Initiative Strategic Action Plan. To accelerate gender equality outcomes, activating sector-wide collaboration is key because we can harness collective lessons, knowledge about what works, and how to address shared systemic barriers to lifting women’s profile and representation in Aviation workforces.
To drive collaboration, DITRDCA have engaged ThinkPlace to lead an initiative called the Aviation Design Lab. ThinkPlace are global leaders in sector collaboration, breaking down silos, and connecting people and ideas to create collective impact. In these environments trust thrives, barriers to communication are dismantled and expertise is shared.
The Lab will deliver on the Strategic Action Plan by strengthening the sector’s collaboration networks, enabling the sharing of knowledge and actions that make a tangible difference to women’s roles and representation in the Aviation sector. The lab addresses the gap that no one organisation can drive change across the entire system. There is a distinct need and desire for a facilitated opportunity to engage strategically and systemically. By supporting cross-sector collaboration to occur, stakeholders will unlock collective movement towards gender equality in their organisations.
The Aviation Design Lab methodology is a proven system-wide collaboration approach. It is a series of events to bring together a coalition of Aviation industry leaders and women to explore and accelerate gender equality interventions in their organisations and community settings.
