About the Speaker
Kirsten Hellier is a Commonwealth Games silver medallist, Olympian, two-time Halberg Coach of the Year, and an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit for her outstanding contributions to sport and coaching. She coached Dame Valerie Adams to world championship and Olympic success from 1997 to 2010 and has held numerous leadership and coaching roles across high-performance sport. Kirsten is currently the High Performance Coach development, Innovations and Throws Lead at Athletics New Zealand, supporting coaches in athletics alongside her role as throws coach. She resides here in the Bay of Plenty and is extremely passionate about growing the number of women in coaching across Aotearoa. We can't wait to hear her incredible stories and experiences.

Only 11% of New Zealand coaches at the Paris 2024 Olympics and Paralympics were women. This startling statistic highlights the importance of supporting and uplifting female coaches. Our goal is to create spaces where women feel a strong sense of belonging in coaching through connection, celebration, and building networks of support.

Whether you're a coach, manager, official, or supporter, nau mai, haere mai. This evening is about championing women in leadership and encouraging more wāhine to step into coaching and sport leadership roles.
