Women in Cricket History Panel
Event description
Join us for a special panel on women's cricket history in the lead up to the historic Ashes Test at the MCG!
Siren Sport and The MCC Library are excited to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the historic 1934/35 Test between Australia and England that we now consider the birth of the Women's Ashes. Before the teams take the field on 30 January, we invite you to spend the morning with us on Tuesday 28 January in the beautiful MCC Library with women's cricket and sports history experts for a discussion on women's cricket history and history's role in storytelling.
Our panel will feature leaders in the field:
Cricket historian, academic and sports journalist, Raf Nicholson
One of Australia's leading sports historians and author of 'The Bodyline Fix', Marion Stell
Former Australian cricketer and member of Cricket NSW Women's Heritage Group, Karen Hill
And Siren co-founder, historian, writer and audio producer, Kirby Fenwick
We will also hear from MCC Librarians David Studham & Trevor Ruddell
The panel will be moderated by Siren co-founder and Deakin University sports media academic Kasey Symons.
You will get an overview of the treasures in the MCC Library including key women's cricket
artefacts in the collection and hear our panel discuss their experience
managing heritage projects, telling historical stories, doing research and what they
want to see more of in women's cricket storytelling.
We will also have some time for Q&A from audience.
