    Event description

Canberra winters can on the chilly side, but rather than hermit completely, why not get your blood pumping on a walk with fellow nature lovers as part of Landcare ACT's Women in Nature program?

June's walk will take place at Ginninderry where we will explore some of the new walking tracks with a ranger from the Ginninderry Conservation Trust team. We will meet and depart from The Link Community building at 10:30am, and journey downhill to the banks of the mighty Murrumbidgee river. Along the way we will pause at various talking points, enjoy the sweeping views and do some nature connection activities together.

Please note this is an active "huff & puff" type walk as opposed to a gentle stroll. The tracks we will go on to get to the river involve walking on unsealed paths of various materials. Tracks will have stairs, step-throughs and steep sections. Ginninderry track routes are all graded level 3 by the Australian Walking Track Grading System. On their website, this is described as: "Suitable for most ages and fitness levels. Some bushwalking experience recommended. Tracks may have short steep hill sections a rough surface and many steps."

We are allowing 2.5hrs for the return trip, with several stops on route. We should return to The Link building by 1pm.
Participants are then welcome to stay on for a cuppa or lunch at Cafe Stepping stone (at own expense).

Please wear enclosed shoes suitable for bushwalking, sun protection, warm layers, and bring plenty of water to keep hydrated. Option to bring a light snack such as some trail mix, piece of fruit, or a muesli bar to much by the river.

Updates will be sent closer to the time via email. If the weather isn't conducive for walking, we will postpone to another date.

Landcare ACT's Women in Nature program is supported by a Community Grant from ACTEWAGL. Women in Nature welcomes all women, including those who identify as cis, trans, and non-binary to connect with nature and each other through guided walks, nature-based art activities, and hands-on conservation across the Canberra region.
