Share a Song, Share a Story: A Concert Celebrating Women of Colour


Join us for the second annual Share a Song, Share a Story concert, a collaborative fundraiser presented by Women of Colour Australia (WoCA) and Our Race Community. This year's event takes place on February 28th on Gadigal Land, in partnership with APRA AMCOS.

In honour of International Women of Colour Day on March 1st, Share a Song, Share a Story is an empowering opportunity to come together as a community. Through music, storytelling, and collective action, we uplift the voices and experiences of Women of Colour and foster solidarity.

This unforgettable evening will showcase a diverse lineup of talented musicians, led by WoCA's Global Ambassador, Emily Williams, and featuring Kween G, Lady Chika, and more. Enjoy a powerful celebration of their artistry while raising funds for WoCA and Our Race Community to continue their essential work.

Your ticket includes a delectable selection of food, along with an alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverage upon arrival. Additionally, a silent auction will take place, made possible by the generous support of our friends and community partners.

About the Artists

Emily Williams

From her humble beginnings as a forklift driver to her dazzling rise to fame on 'Australian Idol,' Emily Williams has proven time and again that raw talent, hard work, and sheer  determination can open doors to incredible opportunities. With her stunning vocals and captivating stage presence, Emily has cemented her position as a force to be reckoned with in the entertainment industry, captivating audiences worldwide with her breathtaking performances. Her groundbreaking casting as Rachel Marron in the UK production of 'The Bodyguard' is particularly noteworthy, as she is one of the first women of Polynesian heritage to take on a leading role in a UK musical. But it is not just her talent that makes Emily stand out - it is her  commitment to creating positive change and promoting diversity and representation. As the Global Ambassador for "Women of Colour Australia," she uses her platform to amplify the voices of marginalised women and push for greater inclusivity in all aspects of society. Emily  Williams is not just an exceptional artist - she is a shining example of what it means to be passionate, authentic, and unapologetically yourself.

Lady Chika


Angelica Osuji aka (Chika) is an artist and creative visionary based in Sydney Australia. She was born in Brazil and raised there and New Zealand. Her inspirations and creative expression is rooted in her black experience, in black history and culture. Just like dance chose her, She chose music. She grew up loving 90's hip hop, Classic RNB, Michael Jackson, Brazlian Funk and lots of Music from the African Diaspora.

In 2019, she decided to pursue her other creative passion djing. As a dancer and performer of arts the love for music is in her bones and this is the next step in her journey to continue to spread joy, art love, fun and worship music. She has played at afro parties such as Afrojam, Redratttler, Can you afro?, Burna Boy pre-party, Stage of Origins and many more. And haven't look back since.

Kween G


Kween G Cultural leader, emerging Afro-Australian Icon. Hip Hop artist, MC, community advocate and curator. Commitment to her own artistry and to supporting emerging artists is formidable. 

Kween G is often described as “consciousness-raising”, a versatile performer. In live music as a member of AfromBollo band lead by Yacou Mbaye -Senegalese master drummer & dancer . And in theater playing key roles in Urban Theatre Projects Productions; 'Home Country', 'RightHereRightNow' & currently 'Nancy Deni's M'ap Boulé at Darlinghurst Theatre. Kween G was the cultural curator on Send For Nellie by award-winning playwright Alana Valentine. 

She is a standout and continues to develop and grow as an advocate for inclusion, social justice and human rights.

Zipporah Corser-Anu is a talented young performer from a proud Torres Strait Islander heritage. With a passion for dance and vocals, she has already achieved success on stage. A former student of Wollongong's High School Of Performing Arts, Zipporah has been performing since her early teens, including a stint as a dancer in the NSW Public Schools Aboriginal Dance Company.
Her performance credits include theatre productions such as Hairspray and Saltbush Tours, as well as appearances at events like Australian Fashion Week and the Red Hot Summer Tour. Zipporah has also worked as a choreographer for Southern Stars and other companies, and has made television appearances on ABC, 10, 9, and NITV/SBS.
With her energy, determination, and passion, Zipporah is a natural talent who uses her platform to promote her cultural heritage and educate others. She is definitely one to watch

Meet the MC

Prabha Nandagopal

Prabha Nandagopal is a leading human rights and discrimination lawyer with over 18 years of broad experience in a variety of areas from workplace culture reform to protecting the rights of asylum seekers and refugees. Prabha founded Elevate Consulting Partners, to support and strengthen the work of organisations committed to positive social change.

Prabha is an innovative changemaker renowned for her ability to challenge the status quo and develop achievable solutions to complex systemic problems. For twelve years Prabha held various senior positions at the Australian Human Rights Commission including Director of Human Rights Law and Policy and Director of Business and Human Rights. In 2021, she was the Director of Legal for the Independent Review into Commonwealth Parliamentary Workplaces. As one of Australia’s foremost experts on immigration detention law and policy, in 2014, she led the landmark National Inquiry into Children in Detention.
